One of my favorite strange gifts is a new take on an old idea. Depending on your age, you might or might not remember the pet rock. It was a huge hit back in the 70s and 80s. What was it? It was a rock that you carried around. Well, now there is a new version. It is called the USB Pet Rock. It is a rock that plugs into a USB slot in your computer. It doesn't actually do anything, but neither did the original! You can find them for $10 or so.
Does the person you are looking for enjoy a nice bottle of Bordeaux or some other wine? If so, going with wine gifts is a good way to find gifts. Most wine gifts are a bit...uptight, but there are a few strange and unique ones. My favorite is the knuckle duster corkscrew. You were them like brass knuckles for a fight, but there is a corkscrew that comes off the middle knuckle. It is actually an easy way to pop the plug on a bottle of wine and will definitely be a subject of conversation time and again.
...and now for something completely different. The world is all about hustle and bustle these days. I would call it the rat race, but the rats can't keep up anymore. Sometimes a person needs time to reflect and collect their thoughts. If your target person falls in this category, you should take a look at Nomad Journals. If they like it, then it is time to...send them to gladiator school. Yes, the school where you learn to fight with a sword and shield against other gladiators and what have you. Pretty cool, eh? There are a number of schools that opened in Rome after the film came out and the reviews are universally great from participants.
